Notice of Proposed Settlement of Class Action Concerning Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Carr, et al. v. Bremby, et al., Case No: 3:19-cv-00035-KAD (D. Conn)
In 2019, Connecticut Legal Services, representing a class of Medicaid recipients (“members”) who use NEMT, filed a lawsuit against DSS and its NEMT contractor, Veyo. The lawsuit alleged that DSS did not provide proper notice of denials of transportation and did not provide adequate NEMT services to individuals with disabilities. The parties have agreed on a settlement to the lawsuit, pending final court approval. The Settlement includes non-monetary changes to the NEMT program and requires (1) identification and referral of certain members for Intensive Care Management (ICM) support; (2) Veyo’s implementation of increased training, monitoring, and requirements that NEMT providers use GPS tracking; and (3) increased education and outreach with regard to NEMT.
Members have the right to let the court know if they object to, or want to “opt-out” of, the settlement class. For details, please see the link below:
